3 Days in Paris at Christmas: Best Things to Do in Paris in December
Let’s be honest— Paris is magical any time of year, but when December rolls around? Oh boy, it turns into a real-life snow globe. The lights twinkle a little brighter, the cafés feel a little cozier, and suddenly, your hot chocolate tastes like it was brewed by angels (or maybe just a really good Parisian barista).
If you’ve ever dreamed of walking along the Seine wrapped in a scarf, or watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle while Christmas lights glow in the background, this 3-day Paris Christmas itinerary is for you.
We’ve spent a few Decembers in Paris, and trust us— it’s one of the most festive cities on Earth. So grab your gloves, your camera, and maybe your stretchy pants (croissants, remember?)— here’s how to spend three unforgettable days in Paris during Christmas.
Day 1: Classic Christmas Magic in the Heart of Paris
Morning: Coffee, Croissants, and the Eiffel Tower
Start your Parisian adventure the way the locals do— with flaky pastries and dangerously good coffee. We always head to Carette near Trocadéro; it’s got one of the best Eiffel Tower views without the tourist chaos.
After breakfast, wander down to the Eiffel Tower itself. Sure, it’s iconic and maybe a bit cliché, but who cares? It’s Paris. During December, the tower sparkles like it’s dressed for the holidays, and the nearby Champ de Mars often hosts a small Christmas market and an ice rink— yes, you can actually skate with a view of the Iron Lady. Talk about a bucket list moment.
Pro Tip: Book your Eiffel Tower ticket in advance unless you enjoy long lines in the cold.
Afternoon: Christmas Markets and the Champs-Élysées
Next stop: Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Every December, the boulevard transforms into a glittering wonderland, with festive lights stretching from the Arc de Triomphe all the way to Place de la Concorde.
The Tuileries Garden Christmas Market (a short walk away) is our personal favorite— it’s huge, packed with vendors selling vin chaud (mulled wine), crepes, handmade gifts, and all the holiday vibes you could ever need.
Take your time wandering through the stalls. Grab a hot chocolate (or three), people-watch, and maybe pick up a souvenir.
Evening: Seine River Cruise at Sunset
Now, ready for something extra special? Hop on a Seine River cruise around sunset. Paris glows differently at night. You’ll pass illuminated landmarks like Notre-Dame, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower, all reflecting on the water.
