Additional Tips For Booking a Trip to Cancun
- If you don’t care about trip flexibility and just want to fly to Cancun, stay in one resort for your whole stay, and fly back home after, consider booking a package (flight and accommodation included) as it will usually be cheaper than booking the flights and accommodation separately, saving you money! Expedia, Booking.com, or Trip.com usually have some good deals on packages!
- Try to look for early booking deals when planning your trip to Cancun. Additionally, we reccomend looking for free cancellation options as well to give you more flexibility. We have made the mistake of booking a no-cancellation and later regretted it when we wanted to change our mind on a resort.
- If you want to stay in one of the World of Hyatt brands, you can book these resorts completely with credit card points. Learn more about how to do this here! You can also take advantage of loyalty status for extra perks if you have status with Hyatt.
- Cabana reservations, spa treatments, certain activities, upscale dining, and luxury spirits/wine are typically the only expenses you have to take into account for in an all-inclusive resort during your vacation. Everything else is complementary! Gratuities are technically included as well, but feel free to tip when you feel like it is right to do so. Not only is it a nice gesture, but you will most likely get even better service than if you were not to tip.
- There are many taxi drivers available that are willing to take you around, but we advise you to be very cautious if you decide to go this route as it is easy to get scammed as a tourist! We reccomend Uber (rideshare), which is available to take you around Cancun. It is well worth noting that rideshare may not be allowed to enter the airport to pick you up when you first arrive to Mexico, so we do reccomend arranging transportation prior whether it is with the resort or a third-party service. We used a service called America Transfers, and we had a good experience with them!
- For the best weather, try to aim your trip between December and April. We went during May, and the weather was actually beautiful. However, we were quite lucky, and you may experience more rainfall if you book outside the window mentioned.
